☆☆☆☆ Review - Rimmel London's Wake Me Up Foundation

I'm sure I don't even need to mention this product, as it has been reviewed and raved about by many a beauty blogger. The reason I stumbled across this perfect Spring product was actually through Tanya Burr, who stated that this was a simply amazing foundation. So when I popped into my local Boots a week after Tanya had mentioned it and saw it slap bang in the middle of the stall I just couldn't not buy it. For £8.99 this bottle of goodness has a medium coverage, a shimmer giving the appearance of fresh and clear skin, and a lot of do-gooding chemicals. The bottle is a pump, my favourite kind of bottle, and ensures that you get just the right amount of foundation for your whole face.

The back of the product reads: 'Our first foundation that visibly awakens and illuminates skin with a radiant glow and a flawless natural looking finish instant anti fatigue effect. With peptides (what?!) and a vitamin mosturising complex.'

I can agree that it makes my skin look brighter and more 'illuminated' but I wouldn't say that my skin is 'flawless' as the foundation is of medium coverage and achieves more of a natural look.
Oh and I googled peptides; a well known chemical used in most high end skin care and apparently prevent aging. Learn more here.

There are only a few bits of advice I would give to a buyer of this product is that the shades are quite dark and the lightest shade is slightly pink-toned, so if you have a yellow-toned skin like me then it's not the best colour match (I took a shade 100 Ivory - lightest shade and still a little too off colour for my very lightly tanned skin). Also, I don't know if it's just me but the foundation is incredibly drying to my skin and I have to heavily moisturise before applying to my skin. (Let me know if you've experienced any problems with dry skin and this product.) So I wouldn't advise this particular foundation for really dry skin types.

But overall this is one of the best all-round drugstore foundations that I've tried, so if you're ever looking for a relatively cheap new foundation - this could be the one!

Blueberry Barry M Gel Nail Paint

What's up, guys,

So this is a completely out of the 'blue' (hahaha) review but yesterday I purchased a little gem from my local Superdrug. By now you guys have probably figured my love for all things Barry M but this one particular product is my all-time nail polish favourite.
The particular colour I chose from the new Gel Effect range is called 'Blueberry' and is a beautiful bluey-lilacy colour. The colour is not only beautiful in the bottle but also on the nails, which I find is quite rare for a drugstore nail polish. This particular colour is perfect for Spring, although I think that this colour will live up to full potential when matched with a tan and sunnies. I think what i love most about this colour, though, is that there aren't really many others like it. A lot of drugstore brands are going for the bluey colours but they are just failing. Also, High-end brands tend to fall into the darker, more sophisticated ( and not really spring-y) colours of nail polish and I'm not 100% sure if the price tag can really match up to how much use i'll get out of the colour.

Not only is the colour great, but also the texture of the nail paint. It's so easy to put on, doesn't stain, and it's just so smooth. When the first layer is applied it's difficult to see what makes this line of nail polishes any different from others. But with the second coat you can see the beauty of it. Most normal drugstore polishes will start smooth but within an hour of 'doing things' the shine has just gone, and it looks drab and dreary. However with this polish you feel like you've just had them done even on the third day.

The other line of colours are as beautiful as this one and I can't wait to buy some of (all of) them. (And for the price tag I really wouldn't mind it as, even on a students budget, they cost £4 each. Bargain!

Adios!

Awful Person

Hi Guys,

It's been so long, I know *sigh*. I find it really hard writing blogs and as much as I love doing it, I always give up. But I'm back and I'm ready.
So, what's happened while I've been gone?
Well, I had a mental breakdown during the cold cold months of December and I turned into what I can only describe as a recluse. I literally did nothing and was in one of the darkest points of my life. Looking back on it now, this was just a case of the Winter Blues, but as I live in Britain the rainiest place in Europe, I think the Winter Blues kind of extended to Spring Blues. The weather here is AWFUL even now in April. Grey and rainy and snowy and cold and wet. It's horrible.
But I'm happier now and it looks like it'll be positively boiling this weekend with highs of 9 degrees celsius(!)

Anyway, I have a few beauty reviews coming up on the blog which I am sure you will enjoy!

Sincere apologies for the lack of posting, I hope you will all forgive me!
